Crawford to Coach UCI Women

Kelly Crawford has been named women’s golf coach at UC Irvine, the school announced Tuesday.

Crawford, who coached last year at Portland State, will be the first women’s golf coach at UC Irvine, which will begin competition in 2001-02.

A 1990 graduate of Sacramento State, Crawford played the LPGA Tour in 1992.

AMATEUR HOUR

The Junior Amateur Golf Scholars’ inaugural tournament will be Dec. 21-22 at California Country Club in the City of Industry.

The Cypress-based organization plans a year-round schedule built on improving the mental and physical skills for junior golfers ages 13-18. Members are required to maintain a minimum grade-point average and will receive playing privileges and access to educational seminars covering a wide variety of golf topics.

SENIOR TOURNAMENT

Tom McCutcheon of Los Alamitos was co-medalist with Leland Davis of Thousand Oaks in SCGA Senior Amateur qualifying when he shot one-over-par 73 Monday at Mission Viejo Country Club.
