Music Stops for Riffage.com:
Riffage.com, a music Web site geared toward bringing emerging artists to eager listeners, folded after failing to find a willing merger partner. The company was founded by Ken Wirt last year and catered to up-and-coming rock and pop music acts, allowing free downloads of sample songs and providing a platform for unsigned artists to sell CDs online. In May, Riffage sought to bring those online music acts one step closer to their audience when it purchased the Great American Music Hall, San Francisco’s oldest nightclub. The Great American Music Hall is up for sale again but will continue operations as Riffage’s assets and financial affairs are managed by Diablo Management Group.
