Nanny Who Beat Babies Gets Prison
A 59-year-old nanny was sentenced in Norwalk, Conn., to a year in prison for beating babies in her care, an action caught on videotape and described by the judge as a “very, very, very serious offense.” The nanny, Joan Kahn, faced up to 18 months in prison after a plea-bargain agreement last November in which she pleaded guilty to two counts of risk of injury to a minor. Last year, the father of an 11-month-old boy in Wilton, Conn., became concerned when he saw his son and a 10-month-old girl in Kahn’s care with dirty diapers and mysterious bruises.
