The Ventura County Community Foundation is sponsoring a “Meet the Grant Makers” workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 17.

The workshop gives representatives from foundations and corporations a chance to explain grant-making criteria and procedures while fielding questions from grant seekers.

Participants will meet representatives from the Candle Foundation, Times-Mirror Foundation, Campaign for Human Development and Aera Energy.

The Community Foundation established its Resource Center for Nonprofit Management to help groups deliver services to residents. The center, which will offer 44 workshops this year, does this particular one four times a year.

“Anywhere from 30 to 40 people will turn out, on average,” Director Molly Connaghan said. “Usually, the majority of the people are from nonprofit organizations in Ventura County. But we’ve had up to 75 people at one time.”

According to Connaghan, the grant makers believe that the workshops help cut down on grant applications that don’t meet a company or foundation’s criteria.

The workshop fee is $35. To participate, send a check, payable to the Ventura County Community Foundation, by Feb. 14.

The workshop will be held at 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 150, Camarillo. For information, call 988-0196.
