Rhyolite Update

Regarding “Mining Art in the Mojave” (Weekend Escape, Jan. 30): Glad you found your way to Rhyolite, Nev. I’ve been working with the Gold Well Open Air Museum since my days as the Nevada coordinator for the Save Outdoor Sculpture! Project in 1995. I’ve had an Internet site devoted to the site since 1996. (https://home.earthlink.net/~yetilvft/uoc1.html).
Albert Szukalski, the artist behind the museum, died last month in Antwerp, Belgium, at age 54. I thought you’d want to know.
What’s going to happen to the site is up in the air. Albert’s friends and family want to see his vision continue; so do I. I am working with the owner of the site (who lives in Amargosa Valley).
Thanks for the story.
