HC Power to Be Bought by Camarillo Company

Power-systems builder HC Power Inc. in Irvine has agreed to be acquired by a Camarillo company for about $95 million in stock.
Power-One Inc., which makes power supplies for electronic-equipment manufacturers, said Monday that it will pay about 2.1 million shares for the closely held HC Power.
The Irvine company sells to telecommunications and Internet-service providers like Qwest Communications International Inc. and Nextel Communications Inc.,
“This acquisition could be a home run,” said analyst Jim Savage of Thomas Weisel Partners LLC. The transaction is expected to close Feb. 29.
Power-One’s shares have quadrupled in the past year and rose $3.25 to close Monday at $45.25 on the Nasdaq stock market.
