Power of Women
* Bravo to Robin Wright and Ann Simmons for their articles (Feb. 22-23) on the growing global activism and power of women. Left out is that we in America can be powerful partners in this process. Twenty of us from America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand went to Benin in West Africa on Feb. 4. We were there to welcome the passage of the Africa Prize for Leadership in Ending Hunger from the villagers of Burkina Faso to the villagers of Benin and to support the African woman food farmer. Substantial media coverage and political attention were the result.
We saw the results of our investment in the Hunger Project in mobilizing women at the village level. It is clear that support with our money and our presence can make a huge difference in demonstrating our global citizenship and solidarity with the women of Africa and the world.

* The series on women in Third World countries has a lot to teach us. Who would have guessed the Mongolian statistics? Congratulations to Wright.
