2 Sentenced in Theft of Wedding Gifts
WEST LOS ANGELES — Two Irvine men who stole more than $1,400 in gifts from a Brentwood wedding reception were sentenced to 45 days on a Caltrans work crew, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said Monday.
Shane Doug Guy and Christopher Evans Fotiades, both 31, were sentenced Friday by West Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz, who also placed both men on three years’ probation. A March 29 hearing will determine how much the two will have to repay the victims.
Fotiades, a co-worker of the bride, was an invited guest who attended the wedding last May with Guy, investigators said. Several witnesses told investigators that they saw Guy and Fotiades carrying gifts to their car during the wedding reception at Mountaingate Country Club. The stolen items included martini glasses, a vase, a silver platter and gift certificates.
The victims, a Huntington Beach couple, discovered the thefts while opening gifts after returning from their honeymoon.
