PLACENTIA
Police managers said Monday that announcements of their contract agreement with the city were premature.
The Placentia Police Managers Assn., representing lieutenants, captains and sergeants, may decide not to approve the latest contract proposal. It could submit a counteroffer to the City Council before the council’s meeting next week.
Representatives for the union announced an agreement last week with city negotiator Marla Anderson for a contract with a rise in total benefits over a two-year period. The agreement called for a 4% raise the first year, a 1.5% raise the second year and a 0.25% health benefits increase each year. It also called for the city to set aside 5% more from the payroll each year for retirement benefits.
Capt. Charles Babcock, president of the managers union, said the 15 members of his association will meet to determine whether they want to accept the new retirement plan.
