GAME OF THE WEEK

NEW JERSEY AT COLORADO

When--Thursday. Time--6 p.m. TV--ESPN2.

* Story line--They may top their conferences in sheer talent, but the Devils and Avalanche have been slumping. New Jersey’s offense dried up in an 0-4-1 streak, producing only seven goals in the four losses. However, the Devils ended their drought with a 3-0 victory over Montreal on Sunday and goalie Martin Brodeur earned his league-leading 35th victory. Colorado’s Patrick Roy is 14 victories from matching career leader Terry Sawchuk’s 447, but he’s 0-1-1 since returning from a groin injury and 2-4-2 since Feb. 3. The Avalanche is in an 0-3-1 slide in which neither Joe Sakic nor Peter Forsberg has a goal.
