School Vouchers
I’m surprised at how many “child welfare advocates” have popped up in support of school vouchers. I had always supposed that the government (taxpayer) provided certain basic services, such as public schools, well-baby clinics, etc. Those who desired to upgrade those services could always do so by paying for them in the private sector. It might require that one take a second job or give up cigarettes, but it’s the American way to make sacrifices for one’s children.
But this is just America, it’s not Utopia. When did private schools become a necessity instead of an option? Regarding an opinion expressed in a letter on Dec. 28, parents still control their children’s education. It just requires they allocate their income accordingly.
