City Manager Arthur Simonian, in the midst of a legal battle with the city, filed a request in court this week to postpone his deposition for 60 days for health reasons.
Simonian is being treated for severe hypertension and was advised by his doctor to postpone stressful situations until his condition improves, his attorney said Wednesday.
Superior Court Judge H. Warren Siegel agreed Tuesday to put Simonian’s deposition on hold until he considers the request for a delay at a hearing set for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14.
Simonian was fired by the city in September for alleged financial malfeasance, but was reinstated by the courts after it was determined that the City Council did not follow the proper procedure in terminating him. He is now on paid administrative leave.
