LAGUNA NIGUEL
A Feb. 1 preliminary court hearing has been scheduled for former Los Angeles Rams player Frederick Douglas France Jr., who faces charges of drunk driving.
France, 53, appeared before Judge Gail A. Andler in South Justice Center on Thursday for a short pretrial hearing. He remains free on $25,000 bail.
On Sept. 26, France was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after a non-injury car accident on Interstate 5 in San Juan Capistrano.
A blood test revealed that France’s blood alcohol level was 0.15, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Nancy Lewis. The legal limit is .08.
Lewis said France could face up to three years in a state prison if convicted, since he has a vehicular manslaughter conviction from 1990.
