Dmitri Leonov scored three goals and goaltender Mike O’Neill stopped 37 shots Friday night to lead the Long Beach Ice Dogs to a 6-1 International Hockey League victory over the Houston Aeros.

Leonov scored a power-play goal at 18:50 of the third period off a feed from Alexei Vasilevski and Kaspars Astashendo to complete the Ice Dogs’ first hat trick of the season. O’Neill’s play in goal helped the Ice Dogs to their first road victory in 10 games.

The teams meet again Sunday before the Ice Dogs return home to play the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday at the Long Beach Arena.
