NASCAR Fuels Track’s Schedule
Irwindale Speedway has announced an ambitious 36-weekend schedule of racing, weighted heavily toward NASCAR Winston Racing Series events, for its second season of competition.
All races will be run Saturday nights, except the season finale, the Turkey Night Midget Grand Prix, a 100-lap race over Irwindale’s half-mile oval, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23.
The season will open March 2 with an all-NASCAR program of super late models, late models, Grand American modifieds and super stocks.
U.S. Auto Club open-wheel cars will make four appearances, the first being April 1 when USAC midgets and sprint cars will share billing with NASCAR’s super models. Silver Crown cars, biggest and fastest of USAC’s classes, will appear Oct. 14.
There will be three NASCAR Winston West main events, including the series finale Nov. 11, and three Featherlite Southwest Tour races.
One new event is the national VW Formula 3 championships, scheduled for Oct. 28. Crowd favorites such as legends cars, MSRA pro 4 modifieds, CAM 360 super modifieds and three truck series are scattered throughout the schedule.
