* Dance--Santa Barbara Dance Theater will open “Chasing Rainbows” tonight at UC Santa Barbara’s Hatlen Theatre. The annual production will feature three contemporary dance pieces performed to an eclectic musical track, including works by Chopin, Funkadelics, Balanescu Quartet and the Artist Formerly Known as Prince. * Exhibit--Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum will open “Patrons, Lovers and Other Romantics” Saturday. The third annual exhibition features artistic valentines created by artists from Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and elsewhere. Through Feb. 10. The forum is on the second level of Paseo Nuevo shopping center, Chapala and De la Guerra streets, Santa Barbara. * Classical--The Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet will perform Tuesday at 8 p.m. at UC Santa Barbara’s Campbell Hall. Musicians: Pavel Gililov, piano; Rainer Sonne, violin; Rainer Mehne, viola; Markus Nikos, cello. Founded in 1985, the quartet is among the few permanently established ensembles of its type. The program will include works by Suk, Martinu, Schumann and others. $12-$22. 893-3535.

* Glance Ahead--The Chieftains, those leading exponents of traditional Irish music, will make a tour stop Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. at Arlington Theatre, 1317 State St., Santa Barbara. $25-$50. 963-4408.
