HUNTINGTON BEACH
The Huntington Beach Police Department is accepting applications for its Citizen Academy, which will begin classes Feb. 2.
The academy gives locals, who must be at least 18, a glimpse at what it’s like to be a police officer. The 10-week course will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday and will include classes on police patrol and investigations. Students also will have an opportunity to talk to Police Chief Ron Lowenberg, take a tour of the police facility and fire weapons at the gun range. Enrollment is limited to 30 people.
