Erykah Badu has just recorded a track for the third volume of the “Jazzmatazz” hip-hop/jazz series produced by Gang Starr’s Guru, with D’Angelo expected to contribute to another song soon. Others appearing on the album, due in the fall, include Macy Gray, the Roots, Kelis, Angie Stone and Les Nubians. . . .
Elton John, Shelby Lynne and Shawn Colvin duet with Shawn Mullins on his next album, due in October, with John’s appearance being on a new version of his early-’70s “Border Song.” . . .
Dwight Yoakam, with his “dwightyoakamacoustic.net” album just out, is working on a new studio album to be titled “Tomorrow’s Sounds Today.” It’s due in the fall, but he’ll be previewing some of the songs on the latter part of his upcoming tour, including a stop at the Universal Amphitheatre on Aug. 17.
