Francis Lederer
* Francis Lederer’s passing at 100 was more than the loss of a “suave character actor” and “excellent businessman” (obituary, May 27).
He was a fighter for human rights and peace, dedicated toward having future generations know the story of Anne Frank and how Hitler and Nazi Germany robbed this child of her future and the millions more who died in the Holocaust. He gave generously of his time, talent and resources in seeking to have her diary--which became a play and movie--read in our schools and libraries.
This is what I treasure most from my friendship with Francis.
