* Coach Mike Van Cheri of Highland High has resigned after 10 years.

Van Cheri, who guided the Bulldogs to playoff appearances the last four seasons, will become an assistant at Antelope Valley College.

“I’ve always wanted the chance to try the next level,” Van Cheri said. “The opportunity was there and the timing was right.”

Three of Van Cheri’s players from this season--Matt Parris, Jason Kubel and John Santor--were selected in the amateur draft earlier this week.
