Parking Restrictions
* Re “Ventura’s Proposed Parking Restrictions,” Ventura County letters, June 4.
Diane Underhill said it all, and well. But one more message for the poor overworked meter maid or man could have been added: “If marking tires is hard on your arm, too bad. Get a real job that benefits the community, like driving a hammer all day to build a house, or climbing a ladder with a bucket of water, or picking strawberries. And those jobs don’t offer paid vacations, sick leave and generous pensions.”
To accommodate the poor, overworked tire markers while imposing a burden on everyone else--tourist, merchant and customer--is the ultimate insult. For the city to go along with it is like spitting in our faces.
