The Galaxy defeated the Seattle Sounders of the A-League, 2-1, on goals by Greg Vanney and Cobi Jones. Tampa Bay was pushed to the limit in overcoming an amateur team, Uruguay Soccer Club of the U.S. Amateur Soccer Assn., 1-0, in overtime on a goal by Mamadou Diallo. Mutiny goalkeeper Scott Garlick leads the league with 67 saves and has a team-record eight shutouts in 2000. Midfielder Carlos Valderrama has a league-high 13 assists. Tampa Bay is 1-4 at the Rose Bowl.
