City Softball Team Loaded With Players From Semifinalists
City Championship semifinalists El Camino Real and Kennedy highs each had three players selected to the All-City Section softball team.
Senior shortstop Jacqui Goodchild, junior pitcher Melissa Coogan and junior catcher Christina Enea were chosen for the Conquistadores (22-5-1).
Senior third baseman Monique Acedo, and sophomore outfielders Alissa Villanueva and Kristin Cookson were chosen for the Golden Cougars (17-4).
Junior shortstop Krystal Mejia of Sylmar was the only other Valley player selected.
Junior pitcher Natalie Tam of San Pedro was selected most valuable player.
Second-team members included senior Casondra Acosta of Sylmar, junior Cassie Shires and sophomore Rebecca McIntire of Chatsworth, junior Lily Landers of El Camino Real and freshman Ryane Montes of Kennedy.
The All-City Invitational team included senior Lisa Rodriguez of Monroe, who was selected most valuable player.
Other area players on the All-Invitational team were: Marisa Mochizuki and Nancy Lopez of Van Nuys, Judy Herrera and Diana Gameros of Monroe. Second team selections were: America Medina and Veronica Castillo of Van Nuys and Melody Perez of Monroe.
