Savannah scores on the Stanford 9 standardized test given this spring showed marked improvement in almost every subject. Continuing a countywide trend, reading scores showed the least improvement while math scores showed the greatest. The Stanford 9, which is taken by California public school students in grades 2 through 11, measures basic skills, such as reading, math, language and spelling. Scores are measured against those of a national pool of test-takers. The 50th percentile is the national median. A score in the 99th percentile, for example, is equal to or higher than all but 1% of the comparison group’s score.
