Crash Survivors Hike 125 Miles for Help
Searchers rescued three plane crash survivors after being guided by two fellow survivors who walked for four days across Botswana’s lion-infested Kalahari Desert to fetch help. The pilot of the downed light plane guided rescuers to the crash site after he and another survivor stumbled, blistered and badly sunburned, into a desert lodge Sunday, having walked 125 miles in intense desert heat with almost no food. The plane crashed Wednesday after developing an oil leak on a flight between the capital, Gaborone, and Maun in Botswana’s northern tourist region.
