SEAL BEACH
Incumbent District 4 Councilwoman Patty Campbell won reelection in Tuesday’s balloting, defeating Pamela Jo Sheldon. Campbell, 58, won by a margin of more than 30%.
The key issue in the race was a proposal to halt plans for a shopping center on Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue. Campbell, 58, opposed Measure M, a failed ballot measure that would have killed the shopping center. She said she believed the measure was poorly worded and opened the city up for lawsuits.
“It’s a shame campaigns have to be as bitter as they are,” she said. “It’s time to move forward and get something positive going for the College Park East community and the city.”
