Lindsay Greco

CAPISTRANO VALLEY FORWARD SR.

Possessing blazing speed and a great shot, Greco, along with Megan Abbamonto, led the Cougars with 15 goals and seven assists. Headed to UCLA, Greco is a two-time Times’ Orange County first-team selection. She helped lead the Cougars to their first Division I title since 1989.

Laura Riegler

MARINA FORWARD SR.

Without Riegler the Vikings might not have made their first playoff appearance in five years. She was Marina’s second-leading scorer with nine goals and nine assists, despite not playing at full strength for much of the season because of a nagging illness.

Erin Clewett

ESPERANZA FORWARD SO.

Making her first appearance on the all-county team, Clewett, an aggressive forward, led the Aztecs to their first Sunset League title in six years and to the semifinals of the Division I playoffs. She’s a first-team All-Southern Section and all-league selection for the second consecutive year.

Ina Kain

WOODBRIDGE FORWARD SO.

Another player making her first appearance on the team, Kain, the team’s playmaker, helped the Warriors advance to the semifinals of the Division II playoffs, where they lost to top-seeded Ventura Buena on penalty kicks. Kain passed out 16 assists and scored six goals for the Warriors.

Kristen Moore

CAPISTRANO VALLEY MIDFIELDER JR.

Part of one of the most dominating midfields in high school soccer this year, Moore constantly left her opponents flat-footed and in a state of awe. She scored 14 goals and had 13 assists for the Cougars, including four and three in the playoffs.

Kendal Billingsley

MISSION VIEJO MIDFIELDER JR.

*--*

Billingsley was the one steady force on a Diablo team that struggled through a year of inconsistency and injuries, but was able to advance to the Division II quarterfinals. Billingsley, a second-team all-county pick last season, led the Diablos with 14 goals.

Whitney Jones

SAN CLEMENTE MIDFIELDER SR.

Jones, who will join Greco at UCLA, played soccer and basketball for the Tritons, often on the same day. She scored 13 goals and had 15 assists, leading the Tritons to the playoffs for the first time in school history.

Lachelle Manzano

EDISON DEFENDER SR.

Defensive player of the year in the Sunset League, it was Manzano’s second first-team all-league selection. A three-year starter, Manzano helped lead the Chargers to the second round of the Division II playoffs. She recently signed to play soccer at UC Irvine.

Amanda Vanderlaan

ALISO NIGUEL DEFENDER JR.

A three-year starter for the Wolverines, Vanderlaan has had a role in 29 shutouts in her career, while not missing a game. She helped the Wolverines to their second consecutive league title, and to bragging rights as the only team to defeat Capistrano Valley this year with a 1-0 shutout.

Molly O’Meara

CORONA DEL MAR DEFENDER JR.

The Pacific Coast League MVP, O’Meara led the Sea Kings to the Division IV semifinals, the team’s first playoff appearance in eight years. A three-year starter, O’Meara helped the Sea Kings record 15 shutouts, while scoring five goals from her sweeper position.

Julie Peterson

SANTA MARGARITA GOALKEEPER SR.

*--*

Peterson shared MVP honors in the Serra League with teammate and fellow keeper Lauren Kent. Both played equal time in goal, leading the Eagles to the Division II semifinals while suffering only four losses on the season, including the semifinal loss to Mira Costa on an own goal.

SECOND TEAM

VICKI BLOOM, El Modena, Forward, Sr.

The Century League’s MVP, Bloom scored 27 goals, leading the Vanguards to the league title, before getting hurt in the Olympic Development national championship.

SIMI PHULL, Sunny Hills, Forward, Sr.

Phull had 38 goals and 21 assists for the Lancers, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division II playoffs before losing to Woodbridge.

KIM DEVINE, Aliso Niguel, Forward, Jr.

Scored seven goals and had six assists despite playing in only 10 games because of an injury. Led the Wolverines to the Sea View League title.

ASHLEY CASAS, Capistrano Valley, Forward, Jr.

Blazing speed and gutty aggressiveness helped Casas score nine goals and record eight assists on the Cougars’ power-packed front line.

HALEIGH ROACH, Capistrano Valley, Midfielder, Sr.

Roach scored nine goals and had nine assists, including three goals in the Cougars’ 3-0 semifinal victory over Arcadia.

ASHLEY O’BRIEN, Marina, Midfielder, So.

O’Brien was the Vikings’ leading scorer with 10 goals and nine assists. A two-year starter, she has started all 55 games in her short career.

GINA MCASKILL, Cypress, Midfielder, Sr.

McAskill, the Empire League’s player of the year and Cypress’ second-leading scorer, helped the Chargers to the second round of the Division II playoffs.

AMY BURCHAM, Pacifica, Defender, Sr.

A four-year varsity sweeper, Burcham assisted on 14 goals off corner kicks, while leading Pacifica to the Division III semifinals.

JACKIE PAGANO, Woodbridge, Defender, So.

Always the defender called upon to mark the best offensive player on the field, Pagano shut out the majority of them this season.

KATIE LOUWSMA, Esperanza, Defender, Sr.

An integral part of a defense that recorded 17 shutouts, Louwsma helped Esperanza advance to the semifinals of the Division I playoffs.

LAUREN KENT, Santa Margarita, Goalkeeper, Sr.

Headed to Notre Dame, Kent combined in goal with Julie Peterson to lead the Eagles to the Division II semifinals.
