Newbury Park in Seventh Heaven
David Fox hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to give Newbury Park an 8-7 victory over Royal on Wednesday in a Marmonte League opener at Newbury Park.
Fox drove in Joey Hamer, who doubled to tie the score.
Fox, Jared Buckley and Tyler Smith each had two hits for Newbury Park (4-1).
Westlake 18, Agoura 4--Cory Taillon contributed two doubles and two RBI, Tyler Adamczyk went three for three and Jon Shepard had two hits for the Warriors (6-0) in a five-inning victory in a Marmonte League opener at Westlake.
It was the second game this week that Westlake, The Times’ No. 1 team in the region, ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule. They finished with 11 hits.
Paul Farinacci hit a two-run home run for Agoura (2-3, 0-1).
Moorpark 12, Channel Islands 3--David Burckin had three hits and two RBIs, and pitched four innings for the Musketeers in a nonleague victory at Moorpark.
Burckin (2-0) allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. He singled, tripled and doubled for the Musketeers (5-1).
Campbell Hall 1, Don Bosco 0--Michael Frost (2-0) pitched a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks for the Vikings (4-1) in a nonleague victory at Don Bosco.
Frost led off the fourth with a home run.
Frost and Jarrett Tarnol each had two hits.
