Saddleback Wins to Remain Undefeated in Golf

Lonnie Charleson shot par 72 and Brian Miller and Scott Henderson each had 73 as Saddleback shot 369 to win an Orange Empire Conference men’s golf match at El Prado in Chino.

Jeff Strang added a 75 and Damien Paterson shot 76 for Saddleback (11-0).

Santa Ana shot 376, Orange Coast was at 381 and Santiago Canyon finished with 412.

Brian Winston and Kyle Wicks each shot 72 for Orange Coast.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Cypress 9, Saddleback 2--Freshman second baseman Amber Miraya hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning and added a two-run single in the sixth for host Cypress (17-4-1, 9-2).

The Chargers scored three times in the fifth to open a 6-2 lead.

The victory moves Cypress Coach Brad Pickler within two of 600. He has a mark of 598-169 and is in his 14th season.

Pickler, has won four state titles including the last three. His team beat Saddleback in the title game last year.

Nicole Brunk had an RBI triple for the Gauchos (12-10-1, 5-5).

Golden West 4, Orange Coast 3--Jennifer Reinig had two hits and drove in one run, and Janis Chavez had an RBI triple for the visiting Rustlers, who scored twice in the second then added single runs in the fifth and sixth. The run in the sixth broke a 3-3 tie.

Kimberly Guillen was three-for-three with a double and two RBIs for the Pirates.
