Corapci’s Hit Gives Titans a Series Sweep at Nevada
Jason Corapci’s two-run single in the seventh inning Sunday lifted Cal State Fullerton to a 6-3 victory over Nevada in a Big West Conference baseball game and gave the Titans a three-game series sweep in Reno.
With the bases loaded and two out in the seventh, Corapci lined a single to center, giving the Titans a 5-3 lead. Jake Epstein followed with another single to center, scoring David Bacani.
Ronnie Corona pitched three shutout innings in relief of Matt Sorensen to earn his first save for Fullerton (16-7, 6-0 in Big West games). Sorensen (4-0) walked seven batters in six innings but allowed only five hits and two earned runs.
The Titans hammered the Wolf Pack in the first two games of the series, compiling 16 hits in an 11-2 victory Saturday and hitting seven home runs in a 21-12 victory Friday.
In the Concordia baseball tournament:
Concordia (Wis.) 9, Concordia 8--The Eagles dropped the final game of the tournament but were still declared winners based on run differential.
Concordia (20-5) took an early 5-0 lead on a two-run home run by Rick Stockton and an RBI double by Matt Broesamle, but errors helped the Falcons move ahead, 9-5, after five innings.
