High Desert Pounds Lancaster Hurlers

The High Desert Mavericks pounded three pitchers for 22 hits in a 14-4 California League victory over the Lancaster JetHawks before 3,541 on Friday night at The Hangar in Lancaster.

Steve Neal had a three-run home run, and Brian Gordon and Maximo Vicaino had bases-loaded triples for High Desert (12-17).

Juan Silvestre had two hits and drove in two runs for Lancaster (17-12). Willie Bloomquist had two hits, including a double.

Second baseman Steve Sisco (Thousand Oaks, Moorpark College) was two for three, improving his batting average to .260 for Richmond (Braves). Sisco, the Atlanta Braves’ last cut in spring training, has 38 home runs in the last two triple-A seasons. . . . Bobby Ayala (Rio Mesa) was touched for two runs in one inning of relief and fell to 1-2 in Iowa’s (Cubs) 5-4 loss to Oklahoma. . . .
