Concordia Falls in Region II Baseball
Biola scored five runs in the sixth inning and pulled away to defeat Concordia, 8-5, in the opening game of the NAIA Region II baseball tournament Monday at Biola.
Concordia loaded the bases in the ninth with one out, but Biola reliever Jonathon Rouwenhorst (Brethren Christian High) got Brian McClintic to hit into a game-ending double play.
Concordia scored twice in the first, but Biola tied it, 2-2, in the fourth on Bill Kimsey’s two-run home run.
Biola (32-16) scored five runs in the sixth with the help of two Concordia errors. Dave Munoz (Esperanza High) and Eric Slater hit two-run singles in the inning for Biola.
Concordia scored three in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk and Derek Patterson’s two-run single. But Biola scored one in the bottom of the seventh to make it 8-5.
Rick Stockton had three hits and Charles Chatman, Jason Radwan, Jeff Curcio and Patterson had two each for Concordia, which finished 29-22.
