The season just keeps getting longer for Palmdale.

First, Coach Gene Speidel missed several games in March after having emergency gallbladder surgery.

The Falcons, who have stumbled to a 10-15 record and will miss the playoffs, must finish the season without starters Sierra Shinkle, Vanessa Ilejay and Jennifer Albertson, who left the team for academic and disciplinary reasons.

“It’s been a bad year,” assistant Ray Beltrami said.

All-Golden League third baseman Jamie Booth of Quartz Hill will attend UC Davis, where she might attempt to walk on.

Booth is batting .270 with a team-high 16 runs batted in for the Rebels.

Some league championships are undecided.

La Reina (18-4, 9-0) meets Oak Park (14-8, 8-1) Thursday at Valley View Park for the Tri-Valley League title.

Paraclete and Village Christian have split in Alpha League competition and must win their remaining contests to tie for the league title.

Paraclete is seeking its 22nd consecutive league title.
