Significant Other: I share my life with this fabulous man, Connell Cowan. We are always doing stuff together on the weekend. We have been together going on 13 years.
Beach Pad: We share a beach house in Carpinteria and that is what we usually do on the weekends--except it has been in construction for a year and a half. It is an endless project. We’re right on the ocean and we walk out the door and check on the tide. It’s a great, long beach walk. Connell likes to cook. I don’t like to. But what I do like to do is go into Santa Barbara, which has a wonderful Saturday morning market where they have all of these fabulous fresh flowers and vegetables. There is also an old rickety movie theater where you fall through the seats in Carpinteria. It’s just fabulous.
New Yorker in L.A.: We have a house in the hills and it’s like a private sanctuary. We have a pool in the backyard. That’s another thing I like to do on the weekends--just hang out. We are in the Santa Monica Mountains and we have wonderful walking trails and mountains. You don’t even have to get in the car to find a place to walk. You can walk out the door and up the hill. There is a great dog park we walk to. We have cats, but we like to go to the dog park. We are doggy looky-loos.
Expeditions: We like to do little adventures because I find that so often it is so easy to end up doing nothing on the weekends. Life needs to have these little enriching experiences. We are looking for art all the time. We love to go to art galleries on the weekend. We do that on Saturday. Sometimes we go down to Bergamot Station--the art galleries on the far Westside. I don’t like to make concrete plans. I tend not to make dinner reservations. I like to try new places, but I find if you go on the off-hours you can usually just sort of slip in. I’m a slipper-inner. We go down to Venice. We sometimes go to Hal’s. It has wonderful artwork by the local artists.
