Cost of ‘Mooning’ Set at $810
A Bellflower man who “mooned” controversial Atlanta Brave relief pitcher John Rocker during a televised baseball game at Dodger Stadium pleaded no contest Monday to disrupting a sporting event.
Andrew James Tellers, 24, was ordered to pay $810 in fines and assessments by the Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner.
Tellers ran onto the field about 10 p.m. during the May 1 game, prosecutors said.
That night, local TV stations and others around the country repeatedly ran footage of the incident, which ended with Tellers being tackled by a security guard and then hauled off--with his pants still down.
Tellers, interviewed later, said he just got “caught up in the moment.”
Rocker had been the subject of intense publicity for months because of insensitive remarks he made last winter.
