Softball Final to Be Continued
The City Section softball championship game between San Pedro High and Carson on Tuesday at UCLA was suspended because of darkness after 16 innings with the score tied, 0-0.
The game will be continued today at South Gate Park at 2:30 p.m.
The teams combined for 13 hits, six walks and 15 strikeouts in 3 1/2 hours Tuesday. Carson stranded 11 runners, San Pedro eight.
Carson had a chance to score in the top of the 13th inning, but San Pedro shortstop Kate Groden threw out Ebony Allen at the plate on a one-out ground ball hit by Adrienne Alo.
San Pedro threatened in the 15th, but Jessica Ruiz, who replaced Nicole Sander in the 14th inning, struck out Tiffany Barnes with runners at first and third to end the inning.
Monroe defeated Washington, 5-0, to win the Invitational final.
