Man, 21, Suffers Gunshot Wound
A 21-year-old local man was recovering at home Sunday night after being shot in the left shoulder late Friday in what authorities were investigating as a possible gang crime.
Robert Munoz was wounded shortly before 11 p.m. in the 700 block of Olive Street, authorities said. He was treated at Ventura County Medical Center and released.
Munoz shared little information with police but said he was walking near Olive and Ramona streets when he was approached by a man, with whom he argued briefly before being shot.
Ventura Police Lt. Bryan Roberts said Sunday he could not confirm that Munoz is a gang member, but detectives from the department’s gang unit were investigating gang retaliation as a motive.
“Mr. Munoz has not told us why this happened,” Roberts said.
Authorities released no physical description of the shooter. Anyone with information should call Officer Tom Mendez at 339-4400.
