In other City Championship first-round matches:
Sylmar def. University, 15-5, 15-3, 15-3--Stephanie Cisneros had 10 kills and Nancy Ariza seven for the No. 1-seeded Spartans (14-0).
Chatsworth def. Bravo Medical, 15-3, 15-3, 15-5--K.C. Doig had seven kills, Leila Pate had five aces and 12 digs, and Linda Wang added 15 digs for the No. 2-seeded Chancellors in a victory at Chatsworth.
Poly def. Marshall, 15-13, 15-6, 16-14--Jennifer Alfaro had 17 kills and 16 digs, and Ruby Castillo added 40 assists for the No. 3-seeded Parrots (1’3-1) in a victory at Poly.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Southern California Junior College Regional--College of the Canyons finished second to Mt. San Antonio in the six-team regional championship Monday at Menefee Lakes Golf Course and qualified for the state tournament.
Canyons and Mt. SAC will meet the two top teams from Northern California next Monday and Tuesday at Monterey Country Club in Palm Springs.
Susan Latch of Canyons shot a two-day total of 155, including a two-over-par 74 on Monday, to finish third individually. Sandy Jocoy of fourth-place Moorpark shot a 152 to finish second.
GIRLS’ GOLF
Southern Section Northern Regional--Ina Kim shot a one-over-par 37 at Camarillo Springs Golf Course to lead Harvard-Westlake to the team championship.
The Wolverines, who had Emma Stachowicz shoot a 39, shot 122 to advance to the Southern Section finals next Monday at Montecito County Club in Santa Barbara along with Notre Dame (127), which was led by Erinn Roundtree’s 40, Dos Pueblos (132), Camarillo (136) and Agoura (136). Hart, led by medalist Sara Jones’ 35, had a 136 but lost the tiebreaker.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Marmonte League individual tournament--Top-seeded Yassie Enterkhabi of Agoura won the singles title with a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3 victory over No. 2-seeded Annie Tran of Royal at Agoura. The No. 1-seeded Westlake team of Lauren Baer and Lindsay Weiss defeated No. 3-seeded Katie Horton and Sandy Kim of Royal, 6-0, 6-3, for the doubles title.
Pacific View League individual tournament--Falon Lopez of Oxnard defeated Camarillo’s Alexandra Lee, 6-3, 6-0, to win the singles title at the Oxnard Tennis Center. The Camarillo team of Lauren Gaona and Michelle Alvarez won the doubles championship with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Danielle Stratton and Brucil Dorsky of Channel Islands.
