Pedestrian Killed Crossing Freeway
A North Hollywood man was killed early Sunday when he was hit by a car as he crossed a freeway, authorities said.
Jon Webster Leipsic, 43, was walking across the Golden State Freeway near Lankershim Boulevard about 3 a.m. Sunday when a southbound 1991 Honda Civic, cruising at about 65 mph, slammed into him, according to the California Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.
The driver was unharmed but Leipsic died at the scene, said Officer Frank Sansone of the CHP.
Authorities said they do not know why Leipsic walked across the freeway. The driver of the car that hit Leipsic was not arrested because he was not at fault, Sansone said.
