University Girls Among Favorites
University will be one of the favorites in the Southern Section girls’ golf finals today at Montecito Country Club in Santa Barbara.
Five Orange County teams qualified for the 15-team tournament by finishing in the top five at the Southern Divisional championships last week at El Prado. Santa Margarita, Villa Park, Aliso Niguel and Los Alamitos are the others.
The Trojans, who won the title in 1998 and finished fourth last year, are led by junior Angela Won and senior Sunny Lee, the medalist in leading the Trojans to the Southern Divisional title.
Other favorites include Redondo Beach Redondo Union and North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, winners of the Central and Northern Divisional championships.
The top four teams today will advance to the CIF-WSCGA finals Nov. 28 at the SCGA Members’ Club in Murrieta.
