Buena has four seniors who started as sophomores. That means they remember Arroyo Grande knocking them out of the Division IV quarterfinals in 1998.

The score: 49-21.

The rematch: tonight at Arroyo Grande.

“That game sticks in my mind because [Arroyo Grande] ran so well against us,” said Brandon Faumuina, a three-year starter at defensive end. “But we are older and wiser.”

And Arroyo Grande might not be as strong. In 1998, it went on to win the division title. The Eagles are 6-4 and barely held off Thousand Oaks, 38-36, in the first round.
