SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The City Council agreed at their Tuesday meeting that each member would suggest names for the downtown park on El Camino Real one block south of Mission San Juan Capistrano.
A name will be chosen from the suggestions at the council’s next meeting Oct. 17.
The park hosts a variety of city events, including the San Juan Summer Nites Concerts, the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and the annual Storytelling Festival.
The council also agreed 4 to 1, with Councilman David Swerdlin dissenting, to approve a formula for calculating how many homes will be allowed on hills with steep slopes.
“I don’t think the item addresses the problem of slope instability,” Swerdlin said.
