Vandals Attack 2nd Synagogue in Week
Vandals attacked a synagogue for the second time in a week during Judaism’s holiest time of year, as a spiral of hate-fueled violence persisted despite condemnations by political leaders and Germany’s reborn Jewish community. No one was injured in the rock-throwing in Berlin’s western Kreuzberg neighborhood. It followed the attempted firebombing of a synagogue in Duesseldorf on Monday night. That western city was the site of a bombing in July that injured 10 immigrants from the former Soviet Union, at least six of them Jews, heightening concern over rising extreme-right violence.
