SOFTBALL
Foothill’s Erin Mobley has committed to play softball at Northwestern, Foothill Coach Joe Gonzalez said.
Mobley, the Century League co-MVP, was a Times All-County infielder who batted .385 with a team-high .549 slugging percentage to lead the Knights to the Southern Section Division I title and the No. 1 ranking in the state.
Mobley will join former teammate Lauren Schwendimann at Northwestern.
FOOTBALL
Liberty Christian will have its homecoming game Saturday at nearby Murdy Park in Huntington Beach at 6 p.m., instead of playing at their usual home site about seven miles from school.
“We tried to get [Murdy Park] for a night game,” said Bryan Speer, athletic director. “It’s our homecoming game, so we want it to be a little bit special.”
Liberty Christian (4-1, 3-0 in league) plays Eastside Christian (1-4, 1-3) in an Express League game.
