City Needs Members for 2 Committees

Thousand Oaks residents with interests in art or cable television can put their knowledge to use on two city committees.

The city has two openings on its Cable TV Issues Committee and five openings on its newly formed Community Art Museum Ad Hoc Committee. Applications must be submitted to the city clerk’s office in City Hall, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., no later than Dec. 1.

The nine-member cable TV committee reviews matters relevant to the local public access station, Channel 8, and acts as an oversight board to the City Council on public access. It also reviews issues related to cable television services in the city, officials said.

Committee members must be city residents and cable subscribers, and they are required to complete annual conflict-of-interest forms. One new member will serve through next July, while the other will serve through July 2002.

The art museum committee, which also includes two representatives each from the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission, the Conejo Valley Arts Council and the Community Gallery Steering Committee, was formed this year by the city to look into the feasibility of bringing a permanent art museum to Thousand Oaks, officials said.

Committee members must be city residents with an interest in cultural arts and be 18 or older. Their terms will begin in January and end whenever they complete their mission.
