Pat Barnes, a quarterback formerly of California and Trabuco Hills High, was selected as a territorial pick of the San Francisco Demons. The Demons also made quarterback Mike Pawlawski, formerly of Cal and Troy High, a territorial pick.
Barnes, the San Francisco 49ers’ emergency quarterback last season, played with the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe the past two summers, leading the team to the World Bowl title in 1999.
Pawlawski led Albany to the Arena Football League championship this summer.
The Extreme selected defensive end Jamal Duff, formerly of San Diego State and Foothill High, as a territorial pick.
Former Cal State Fullerton quarterback Damon Allen broke the Canadian Football League career passing yardage record in British Columbia’s 28-22 victory over Hamilton at Vancouver Saturday.
Allen, 37, has passed for 50,686 yards, breaking the mark of 50,535 set by Hamilton Coach Ron Lancaster. Allen broke the record with a 45-yard TD pass to Alfred Jackson in the second quarter.
