BOYS
Jamie Mah
SCHOOL: Sylmar
YEAR: Junior
SPORT: Baseball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Mah, who plays shortstop and pitches, is 2-1 with a 1.43 earned-run average. He is batting .412 with three home runs and 13 runs batted in. Coach Gary Donatella has a dilemma, because when Mah pitches, it weakens the Spartans defensively. But Mah has been Sylmar’s best pitcher against top teams.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Mah almost single-handedly helped the Spartans sweep Valley Mission League rival Kennedy in a two-game series. On Monday, he had a three-run home run, a two-run double and pitched a complete game in an 8-1 victory. On Wednesday, he went four for four in a 5-3 victory. “Mah was awesome,” Kennedy Coach Manny Alvarado said.
