Piatkowski Poised for Personal Milestone
VANCOUVER, Canada — At some time during the Clippers’ game against the Vancouver Grizzlies tonight, veteran shooting guard Eric Piatkowski will probably match a personal milestone.
With his first three-point basket, he will match his single-season best of 106, set in 1997-98.
“I can definitely promise that I’ll do that [in one of the Clippers’ final eight games of the season],” he said after a workout Tuesday at the Grizzlies’ practice facility.
This is the second time in his seven-year NBA career that he has made 100 three-point shots. He is the first Clipper to do it more than once. Terry Dehere owns the franchise mark of 139, set in 1995-96.
“It’s nice to reach [a personal best], but it’s more important for me to shoot around 40% on three-pointers,” said Piatkowski, who has made 40.5% this season. “That’s really the benchmark. Anything over 40% is gravy. There are a lot of guys who make three-pointers but many of them shoot a low percentage.”

The Clippers are on pace to establish two defensive franchise records this season. They have limited opponents to 44.1% shooting, better than the 1974-75 Buffalo Braves’ franchise-best mark of 45%. The Clippers have also given up only 95.1 points a game, which would surpass the franchise’s previous best of 99.2, set in 1998-99.
