Volunteer Opportunities
Burbank Public Library Literacy Services needs volunteer tutors for adults. The first session of a 12-hour workshop will be Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Burbank Public Library Auditorium, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd. Call (818) 238-5577.
The Volunteer Center of Los Angeles needs helpers to register and usher guests Friday and Saturday at a medical conference in Universal City; to work with the Los Angeles Film Festival from Friday-April 28; and to plant trees Saturday in Pacoima.
Volunteers are also needed for a golf tournament April 23 in Simi Valley, sponsored by the HELP Group, a coalition of nonprofit agencies that helps families of children with special needs. Friends of the Los Angeles River needs people to clean the river May 11-12.
Volunteers are also needed to lead nature walks for the Children’s Nature Institute, to serve as greeters at the Los Angeles Zoo and to teach Internet skills at a computer lab of the Boys & Girls Club of Venice.

The Organization for the Needs of the Elderly is seeking volunteers to set up artwork at a senior art exhibition April 29 from 6:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; hours are flexible. The event will be at the Encino Farmers’ Market, 17400 Victory Blvd., Van Nuys. Volunteers are also needed to deliver meals once a week for about 2 1/2 hours. The Jewish Federation’s Koreh L.A. program is seeking mentors for kindergartners through third-graders who are behind in their reading skills.
