“I’m really enjoying a lot of varietals right now-Pinot Gris, Syrah, Zinfandels. And I had a Spanish Tempranillo last night, a 1991 Bodegas Muga Rioja ‘Prado Enea Gran Reserve.’ What I love about it--it’s interesting and subtle enough flavorwise that it doesn’t overpower the food. It has dark fruit and an herbal spiciness with an interesting complexity. It’s a great food-pairing wine.”
